May be another new redlight.....

going in on 58 between Coeburn and Norton. There is a guy been out here surveying for about 2 hours now at the intersection where you turn off to go to the racetrack, and where he is marking and measuring would be the approximate locations of lights.
How fun will that be to have a light here and another less than a mile away on a road that had no lights for 30 years?

The other day there was a wreck right at that intersection. I believe it was an older model blazer flip over on it's top. So you could be right about a new stop light being put in.

I remember a year or two ago when we were coming back from Wal-Mart and there was a wreck in which a woman (in a car) pulled out in front of a semi and was killed as a result .. it happened there at the turnoff you mentioned.

We got there just a little while after it'd happened and they'd already cleaned up most of the mess but I remember thinking how dangerous that place was and why there wasn't already a red light in place there.

(Just in case it's unclear: I'm referring to the turnoff to where you can get to the race track on the fourlane.)

Red lights can be pretty annoying (the long row of them in downtown Norton, for example), but as long as they help save lives it's probably worth the extra time spent going through them in the long run.

So they'll put a traffic light in there, but won't bother with the intersection of Hawthorne and 58.

That's exactly what I was thinking. If anywhere another redlight needs to be added it is that intersection. Sometimes you can be coming the back side of walmart and there will be 20 cars or more waiting to turn to Coeburn when I just want to turn right and go back to Norton. They need to widen the road to about 50 feet and make turn lanes as well.

The wreck the other day, the woman had slowed down and was in the right lane to turn in here and there was a semi beind her and he got in the left lane to go on by and she just turned right in front of him like she was gonna do a u-turn or go towrds the track.
In the past nearly 20 years we have seen some real wrecks here. They used to be alot more frequent, like one every month or 2 the last 8-9 years there have only been 2-3 a year.

Yeah I didn't have clue how it had happened. I was headed towards Norton at that time and seem the aftermath.
